About the Race
The Komen Twin Tiers Race for the Cure® includes a 5K walk/run and a 1-mile walk with courses that begin and end at Chemung Canal Trust Company’s Main Office in downtown Elmira, NY. The 5K race is certified by USA Track and Field. Insurance restrictions require that headsets, rollerblades/inline skates and pets must be excluded and are not allowed on the course. For safety reasons we request that participants with baby strollers/joggers join for the 1-mile fun walk rather than the 5K event.

The Komen Race in Elmira, NY
The Board of Directors has become an integral part of the Twin Tiers Race’s success. The first Race for the Cure was called the Health Run (’95-‘98). It was held at the Arnot Mall in Horseheads, NY for three years, and eventually moved to downtown Elmira, NY as the numbers participating grew to require a larger venue. This move coincided with our partnership with our presenting sponsor, Chemung Canal Trust Company. 75% of all proceeds from this race are funneled directly back into the community as grants for screening, treatment, local outreach, and education. 25% goes to National for research and development. Our Affiliate is consistently working toward barriers in education and has actually seen a decrease in breast cancer death in the Elmira, NY area due to early detection.
Join us on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. at Chemung Canal Trust Company's Main Office in downtown Elmira for the Komen Twin Tiers Race for the Cure®!
